My two weeks break after exams were over and I was not so happy to go back to school again. That was until I remembered I had another week holiday after 2 weeks of school. Man, October rules!

Anyways, this year I would be spending the whole Diwali break in Chennai with my cousins. I think you won’t be surprised when I mention their names because I’m pretty sure only family is going to read this.

I was super excited because it had been a year since I saw them and it might be a long time when I get another opportunity.

The first day was great! We had gotten in the car at 4 and drove off to Chennai. We were just vibing with songs in the car and discussing meaningful conversations I probably wouldn’t remember (I didn’t). Five minutes before reaching I actually sprayed deodorant because I am a considerate person who cares about others comfort… and I’m 15 and I naturally smell terrible.

The moment we met was somewhat awkward at first, but all it took was some bedroom chaos to change that and we ended up getting along instantly. We played board games for a bit, rode around with random people’s bicycles, and I even broke one of them and never bothered fixing it (sorry). We then ate dinner and my ego couldn’t be satisfied without flexing my “very big“ muscles and showing off my new-found physical strength. Thankfully, everyone seemed to have fun regardless.

Afterwards I had left to visit my grandparents in their house and slept there. This would be the same for the next few days. Oh yeah, we also bursted crackers for Diwali but people in Chennai don’t have a regard for safety. It felt like a warzone with everyone chucking bombs under my legs. I had to unlock my inner Spiderman and dodge every cracker coming my way.

A few days later was the day of Sanchith’s poonal. It was going to be taking place in a Mandapam instead of their house like how mine was, which was reasonable enough. It was pretty cool seeing what I did two years ago again in front this time. I was able to relate to most of it.

However, I was supposed to eat with him as it was a rule to have someone with a poonal sit down and eat with the person getting their poonal. I had also eaten breakfast before that so I felt extremely bloated. It’s impossible to be on a diet if you’re Brahmin. All my 3 months of disciplined workout sessions had not been worth anything. Nevertheless, Sanchit got his poonal, we ate lunch afterwards (MY STOMACH WAS GONEE) and left to the house again.

The next day was the last day of the trip and it was a full day of timepass with my cousins. To be honest it was one of the most stress-free, happy and peaceful days I’ve ever had and I never wanted it to end. We had gone to a street stall for dinner and ate fresh fried rice and noodles along with dosa and idly of course. Then, we ended the day off with a car ride full of songs and noise. I couldn’t feel my voice afterwards. Sadly we had to leave after all this. We said goodbye and left for Bangalore.

Honestly, this was the most emotional I’ve felt after coming back home from Chennai as I knew it was a once in a lifetime experience that I may rarely ever experience again, as I’m having exams 24/7.

Overall, this holiday was full of laughter, board games, cycle rides, walks, car rides, and a load of fun with my cousins that I’ll simply never forget.

I hope we get to meet again guys!!!
